Covering my angst with the soothing wisdom from my mother's prayer journals

Its On Loan from God

March 14
Romans 5:3-5
And not only that, but we also glory in tribulation knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character hope. Now hope does not disappoint because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Our society faces an enormous amount of tribulation and because of 24/7 news coverage we can see each event up close and personal.

Recently a tornado destroyed a town leaving ¼ of its population homeless. While watching the coverage I saw a 75 year old scan the pile of debris and say with conviction,

“God gave me all I have and He can do what He wants with it.”

Mother wrote in her journal, “All we have and receive is on loan from God.

Heavenly Father, Thank you for what You have given us. I pray you will keep us safe Lord, but when we face tribulation help us remember that our hope is only in You. Amen

Grateful for so many things, especially the peace He gives and the opportunity to tell it to my kids, grandkids and anyone else who wants to listen. Many read my first book In My Mother's Words, and I have recently published my second book, Heart Whispers from the Old Testament. Both are the result of the prayer journals my mother gifted me her last Christmas. Those journals were full of the wisdom of a Faith Walker and had to be shared.

  1. As David wrote, “It all comes from Your hand.” It all belongs to Him. May we honor what He provides in the good times and the bad. Your post and mine are of the same mind and heart today. Great reminder.
